What Sites See Most Mobile Action in the UK?

Google leads for smartphone reach; Apple is No. 1 for tablet visitors
Search, social and shopping are among the biggest smartphone activities in the UK. According to data released by comScore Mobile Metrix, Google sites were the top smartphone property in the country in January 2015, with 28.3 million total unique adult visitors from iOS and Android apps and browsers—or a whopping 98.4% of smartphone users.
Google’s dominance is in line with mobile spending trends among UK advertisers, as they’re shifting expenditure on the channel away from display and toward search. eMarketer estimates that this year, UK mobile search ad spending will near £1.42 billion ($2.34 billion), or 47.5% of mobile ad investments. While display will grab the majority through next year, stronger growth in search ad spending in 2016 and 2017 will push the format past display in the latter year, when it will pass £2.96 billion ($4.87 billion billion) to account for 52.2% of UK mobile ad spend.
