Time for wearables in the UK?
[ 10.02.2015 ]
The health and fitness wearable tech market in the UK is winning fans, but it’s still somewhat niche. Indeed, wider uptake of wearable tech in the UK remains relatively low. According to December 2014 data from research agency Clicked, in association with Lightspeed GMI, only 7% of UK adults currently owned a wearable device. However, a far healthier proportion—19%—said they were extremely interested in owning such technology.
Of devices currently owned, the majority were fitness-related—4% said they owned sports watches and 3% fitness smart bands. However, the device mix looks set to change. The study found that smart watch ownership currently stood at just 2%, but a much more substantial 10% said they really wanted one.
