B2C Ecommerce sale in Finland topped $10 billion in 2014
[ 31.03.2015 ]
A March 2015 report from Asiakkuusmarkkinointiliitto (ASML), Finnish Commerce Federation and TNS Gallup Finland revealed that the ecommerce market in Finland managed to stay afloat in 2014, despite the country’s economic downturn. Total business-to-consumer (B2C) ecommerce sales for the year reached €10.5 billion ($13.93 billion), even though digital sales in the largest category, services, declined significantly.
According to the research, B2C ecommerce sales of services in Finland fell by 5% last year and totaled just €5.7 billion ($7.56 billion). Digital travel suffered the most, with ecommerce sales of plane tickets and hotel accommodations registering strong declines. The 7% growth in digital retail sales and the 12% growth in sales of digital content were able to counteract this drop, however, and total B2C ecommerce sales in Finland landed at roughly the same amount as in 2013.
